L3 | S2 | W20: Mighty Greens go two clear as Ilkeston’s shock win rocks the D3 promotion race

📰 Week 20 in Review – Season 2

Andy D’s Mighty Greens are two points clear at the top of Division 1 for the first time this season after a composed 2-1 win over Shin Kickers, while West London Blue dropped a point in a 1-1 draw at Delboys Hellboys. With ten rounds remaining and a direct head-to-head between the two clubs arriving in Week 21, the title race has never felt more finely balanced – and with West London Blue holding a two-goal advantage on goal difference, the maths remain as complicated as the table.

It was a week of talking points across all four divisions. Scoreit’s hat-trick for Supremos was the individual moment of the weekend in Division 2. In Division 3, Ilkeston Rams produced the shock result of the season so far, beating second-placed St Venage Borough 3-1 to shake up the promotion race behind champions Richmond. And in Division 4, Robert Morris and VanWart78 both took charge of new clubs – and both lost – while Brompton Hotspur’s three-goal away win pushed six clubs within seven points of a promotion place.

Week 20 is also a form week – the game’s league-wide player rankings reset every fifth round. Tantany Rangers’ Simmonds sits at the summit of the attacker table with a perfect 5.00 momentum score. In midfield, Westhill Town’s McGregor leads the entire league at 4.90 with an Exploding trend. More on that below.

🏆 Division 1 – Greens go clear, but WLB hold the goal difference card

The D1 title race has its first genuine leader, and it came about not through Mighty Greens doing anything extraordinary but through West London Blue blinking at precisely the wrong moment. Loz Newbold’s side travelled to Delboys Hellboys and looked set to share top spot on points when Wise opened the scoring in the third minute, but O’Maradona’s equaliser on 23 minutes meant the visitors left with one point instead of three. The door was open for Andy D. Woodford drove in on 51 minutes, Winter added a second on 80, and even Gonzalez’s 58th-minute pull-back for the hosts was not enough to threaten the result. Mighty Greens go to 44 points – two clear of West London Blue on 42.

The twist in the tale is goal difference. West London Blue’s +14 sits two better than the Greens’ +12. If the two clubs finish level on points at Week 30, it is Loz Newbold’s side who go up as champions – and that makes Week 21’s head-to-head at the Kevin Hitchcock Arena a game of enormous consequence. The margin for error on both sides is tight enough that a narrow defeat for Mighty Greens could simultaneously cost them points and erode their goal tally. Indie Kids United, who lost 1-2 to Melchester Rovers (Downie doubled up inside 41 minutes before Alekseev pulled one back in the 85th), stay third on 38 – six off the pace with 10 games left, and probably needing help from above to get back in contention.

💡 Mighty Greens lead the table on points but trail West London Blue on goal difference (+12 vs +14). South Park Cows, sat fourth, also hold +14 – the same as WLB. This title could easily be decided by a single goal, in a single match, in the final weeks of the season.

Down at the bottom, Grange Hill Rovers gave their survival hopes a small but meaningful boost – and kept their Supremos Cup quarter-final dream alive. Savage struck on 76 minutes against Blackheath Town, and with the home crowd willing them over the line, Jones stabbed in a 91st-minute winner for a 2-1 victory that moved Geoff Baxter’s side off the bottom for the first time in weeks. They are on 13 points and still in serious danger, but at least Leicester Lightening now prop up the division alone on 11. Patrick’s side drew 1-1 with Busby Babes United – Garner’s goal cancelled out by Best – and Leicester have still not won an away league game all season.

⚠️ Leicester Lightening have zero away wins, zero away draws and just two away goals across ten road trips this season. With nine points likely the minimum required to stay up, and six of their remaining games away from home, the numbers make for grim reading.

💙 Division 2 – Scoreit puts on a show for Supremos

Frenchy’s Dons are doing what leaders are supposed to do – winning when they need to, quietly and without fuss. Nick Bristow’s side were professional away at Chip Spice, Hayes testing the net on eight minutes and Quintanilla putting the game to bed just before half-time. Alveley Wolves kept pace with a tight 1-0 home win over Tayside Royal – Scarratt’s 23rd-minute goal was enough – and the gap between the top two remains exactly five points. It has now sat at five points or fewer for several weeks, and with Wolves maintaining their form it is far from over. But it is the Dons’ title to lose.

The standout performance of the week in Division 2, though, belonged to Scoreit. Willie Winit’s Supremos were ruthless against Ravensdale Athletic, and it was their striker who made it look simple – 44 minutes, 68 minutes, 78 minutes, all three finishes carrying the calm authority of a player in the form of his life. The hat-trick moves Supremos to 38 points in third place. Kaapstad, for their part, were equally impressive away from home – a 2-0 win at Carrotasaray with Ndoumbe opening on 10 minutes and Chung adding a second on 41 keeps Simon Cleworth’s side fourth on 37 points and eyeing the promotion spots.

💡 Scoreit scored at 44’, 68’ and 78’ – three goals against a side that had nothing to offer by way of an answer. His momentum form rating this week sits at Season Defining territory and Supremos’ home record of seven wins from seven remains one of the most impressive in the division.

At the other end, Crazy Aces FC lost 0-2 at home to München Biscuits – Tea scoring on 9 and 75 minutes – and have now accumulated just seven points from 20 games. One win all season. Alan Latchley’s side have conceded nine goals in their last five without reply, and their fate looks sealed.

❤️ Division 3 – Ilkeston ram the season’s biggest shock down SVB’s throat

St Venage Borough arrived at the Graham Westley Stadium in second place on 36 points, four wins in a row behind them, and with every reason to expect three more. Ilkeston Rams, tenth in the division and coming into the game on 21 points, had other ideas. Paul Hayes’ side were ferocious from the off – Hayes himself opened on 37 minutes, Fury added a second just before the interval on 44 to turn it round from SVB’s 15th-minute opener through Maamria, and Von Richtofen drove in the third on 87 to wrap it up at 3-1. It was the kind of result that re-draws the narrative of the entire promotion race in a single 90 minutes.

The saving grace for SVB is that AFC Navenby also won. Will Hayward’s side beat White Horse 1-0 through Ribeiro’s 41st-minute header and hauled themselves level with St Venage on 36 points. The two clubs are now separated only by goal difference – SVB in second on +6, Navenby in third on +5. Gwent Saints continued their recent upturn with a 2-0 home win over Woodhouse Imperial, Top Bins Thompson and McCrae scoring within a minute of each other on 51 and 52 minutes respectively, to move to 35 points in fourth. Fulchester United, who were third coming into the week, dropped to fifth after conceding early to Van Den Berg away at Richmond – and in doing so, lost ground to three of their direct rivals in a single afternoon. Ted Lasso’s champions, meanwhile, stride on at 56 points. Twenty ahead of second place. Quite something.

🔍 Four clubs within two points of the second promotion place and 10 games to play. SVB lead the pack on 36 (GD +6), Navenby right behind on 36 (GD +5), Gwent Saints a point back on 35, Fulchester a further point back on 34. After the shock at the Graham Westley Stadium, none of them can afford to take their foot off the gas.

The week’s most quietly remarkable subplot came from Westhill Town. The club remains unmanaged – the dugout at Parkhead has been empty since the season began – and yet McGregor, operating entirely under Supremos Circuit guidance, bagged a brace in a 2-0 win over Mount Florida AFC (15’, 18’) and now sits at the very top of the league-wide midfield form chart with a 4.90 momentum score and an Exploding trend of +1.25. No manager needed, apparently.

💡 Westhill Town are eighth in Division 3, unmanaged all season, and their midfielder McGregor is the hottest-rated player at his position in the entire Unreal Academy this week. If a manager ever does arrive at Parkhead, they are inheriting something worth keeping.

💛 Division 4 – Six clubs, seven points, and ten games to sort it all out

Tantany Rangers keep their foot down and Simmonds keeps scoring. Lee Von Cleef’s side ground out a 1-0 win over Smackdown Rovers – Simmonds’ 48th-minute goal his 13th of the season – to move to 43 points. Grove Old Boys were equally decisive, Menendez and Stephenson combining to put Tottenham Mustangs away inside the first 16 minutes for a comfortable 2-0 win. Stuart Bartholomew’s side are 38 points and solid in second. The top two look beyond reach. What is happening directly below them is a different story entirely.

Brompton Hotspur moved into third place with an emphatic 3-1 away win at Bankrupt United – Yankum opening inside a minute, Cahill adding a second on five and completing the job on 62. El Diablo’s side are on 34 points and the target is now visible for five clubs behind them: Thetford Tigers (30), Quinton Athletic (29), Abbey United (29), Hillgrove United (28) and Joburg Shongololo (27) are all in range. The new man at Thetford, Robert Morris, endured a difficult debut as Hillgrove’s Ferguson scored twice (3’, 76’) in a 2-0 home win. VanWart78 also lost on his first outing in charge of Tintagel Knights – Zaballi and Ceffi scoring inside five minutes for Quinton Athletic to wrap up a 2-1 win. Both new managers know where they stand.

⚠️ Six clubs between 27 and 34 points are fighting for the third promotion place. With those clubs all still to play each other, points swings of four or five in a single round are possible. This race will not be resolved until late in the season.

🏆 Cup Update – Two quarter-finals, two weeks to watch

The League Cup quarter-finals are confirmed for Week 21. Amity Rovers host Deportivo La Rochelle, Colesbourne Rangers take on Anfield Rockets, Team Van Holland face Fulchester United, and Woodhouse Imperial meet Bankrupt United. The bookies have all four home sides at 1/3 and all four away sides at 11/4. Quarter-Finals (exit)£130,000
Semi-Finals (exit)£200,000

The Supremos Cup quarter-finals are set for Week 23, and the draw is already confirmed. Grange Hill Rovers – who kept themselves alive this week with their win over Blackheath Town – face Grove Old Boys in a cross-division tie that carries genuine intrigue. Kaapstad take on München Biscuits, Shin Kickers meet Gwent Saints, and White Horse face Brompton Hotspur. Clubs knocked out at that stage will collect £250,000 in prize money.

🗞️ Around the league

Six score draws across this week’s fixtures, and only one manager called it correctly. John Forster of Silversprings United nailed his prediction and walks away with £800,000. Well earned.

Two new managers were welcomed to the Unreal Academy this week. Robert Morris takes charge at Thetford Tigers, inheriting a Division 4 side sitting fourth on 30 points – a solid base to build from, despite the opening defeat. VanWart78 steps in at Tintagel Knights in 15th place, taking over from Tom Cropper. Both managers’ debut results went against them, but both clubs now have someone in the dugout which is the most important thing. The Supremos Circuit continues to run five clubs: Westhill Town and Tottenham Coldspur in Division 3, and Rotherham Town, Smackdown Rovers and Woodfarm Warriors in Division 4.

Being a form week, the league-wide player rankings carry extra weight. Simmonds of Tantany Rangers achieves a perfect 5.00 attacker momentum score – his 13 league goals backed by a Season Defining impact rating of 98.50%. McGregor of Westhill Town tops the midfielder table at 4.90 with an Exploding trend (+1.25) – a remarkable number from a player operating under Circuit control. C. Stokes holds down the top goalkeeper spot at 100% momentum with a Surging trend, and F. Samudio leads the defenders with a 100% short-form momentum rating. These are the players in the form of their lives right now.

Crowd trouble blighted multiple grounds this week. The worst incident came at Harchester United during the 1-1 draw with Camden Town – 70 supporters arrested, nine officers injured, £89,921 in stadium damage. Carrotasaray vs Kaapstad saw 47 arrests and £69,526 of damage, Vale Madrid vs Colesbourne Rangers produced 64 arrests and £73,367 of damage, and Silversprings United vs Real Braintree added 57 arrests and £79,403 of damage. Anfield Rockets vs Abbey United and Bankrupt United vs Brompton Hotspur both saw trouble too. Altogether a grim weekend for stadium safety across the league.

Finally, a milestone on the rivalry front. Anfield Rockets and Abbey United have reached the Rival Awareness threshold of 100 points – both clubs will now begin formally monitoring their opposite number. The next milestone is 200 points, at which point an official rival designation becomes possible. Something to watch.

👀 Looking ahead Week 21 brings the League Cup quarter-finals alongside the regular league programme – but whatever else is on the fixture list, only one game will dominate the conversation in Division 1. West London Blue host Mighty Greens in the head-to-head that could reshape the entire title race in 90 minutes. Win for the Greens and they have breathing room; win for West London Blue and the table flips back level, with their goal difference then putting them on top. With ten rounds still to play, it is exactly the kind of fixture this league was made for.

L3 | S2 | W18: Shin Kickers knock out West London Blue as Richmond seal the title

Week 18 was the week the Supremos Cup Last 16 arrived – and it did not disappoint. The biggest story of the night was not on the league table at all: Shin Kickers put West London Blue to the sword 2-0, knocking one of Division 1’s joint leaders straight out of the cup and leaving Loz Newbold’s side to regroup for the title run-in without a cup campaign to carry. Elsewhere, Richmond finally, officially, mathematically put Division 3’s title conversation to bed. Yakubu saw to that.

L3 | S2 | W19: Simmonds hits a second-half hat-trick as Tantany Rangers pull five clear

League football was back across all four divisions of the Unreal Academy this week, and it delivered plenty to chew on. The big story of the night goes to Simmonds, who hit all three as Tantany Rangers thrashed Anfield Rockets 3-0 and stretched their lead at the top of Division 4 to five points. Meanwhile, Division 1’s title race took yet another unexpected twist when Melchester Rovers came to the Kevin Hitchcock Arena and left with all three points – West London Blue still sit joint top on 41 with Mighty Greens, but their goal difference advantage is gone. And in Division 2, Vale Madrid quietly went about their business and beat Alveley Wolves 1-0 to hand the leaders’ chasers a potential lifeline.

L3 | S2 | W13: Winter fires Mighty Greens hat-trick as West London Blue hold their nerve

Winter scored all three in Mighty Greens’ 3-0 demolition of Plymouth Parkway – 15 minutes in, again just after the hour, and once more at 79 minutes – to keep Andy D’s side right on the heels of West London Blue at the top of Division 1. That kind of performance deserves more than a footnote, and it probably shifts Mighty Greens firmly back into title conversation after a mixed run last week.

L3 | S2 | W17: Four clubs, four points – Division 1’s title scrap refuses to split

Seventeen weeks in and the Unreal Academy is delivering exactly the kind of season the game promises. Division 1 has gone from a three-way race to a genuine four-way scrap, Division 2 remains stubbornly split between a dominant pair and a chasing pack, Division 3 is watching Richmond approach unstoppable territory, and Division 4 is showing the first signs of a leader edging clear. There is plenty of season left – but the shape of things is beginning to reveal itself.
