January 2026 – Newsletter

📬 Soccer Supremos January Newsletter

Hello Managers! 👋

Happy New Year! I hope 2026 is going to be an amazing year for you. Personally I am pleased to say goodbye to 2025, which wasn’t a great year for me personally.

As most of you are aware, Soccer Supremos and myself took a 2 week break over the festive season. The weather down here in Cape Town has been lovely, and I really did take advantage of the break. I did manage to get some work done on the game, though on the whole I mostly rested, drank and eat too much and recharged the batteries.

During the last two weeks I have made some progress on the non-playing member orders and hope to have these wrapped up before the end of the month. I also used the opportunity to put together 2 more hint sheets:

So, Soccer Supremos and 2026. What is in store for the game? There are two main goals:

  • Launch League 4
  • Complete Feature Backlog

Launch League 4

I am aiming to get this 4th league up and running asap. Realistically, I think this might only happen in Feb now. At the time of writing this, 25 managers have signed up for the early-bird special (1st season for just £30), so the league is just under half full.

I have extended the early bird special until the end of January AND I am allowing managers who aren’t interested in the special, but would like to join a brand new league, to sign-up. The sign-up is free and comes with the first 2 turns. No obligation to continue beyond that point.

If you are interested in signing up for this brand new league then you have two sign-up options:

Complete Feature Backlog

Despite introducing a ton of new features in 2025, I still have a number of ‘key features’ to complete. I think I should have them all done and integrated into the game by October. That is my aim. There will be a number of small fixes and improvements along the way, though the list below contains the big ones:

  • Non-Playing Member Orders: These are very close to be completed at the moment.
  • Missing Finance Orders: Namely, ‘Hire P.I.’ and ‘Sack Player’.
  • Scouting Improvements: This needs a small overhaul.
  • Player Transfer Request: Unhappy players will be requesting to be released from their contract.
  • Player Retirements: Oldies announcing their retirement and in some lucky cases might move into a supporting staff role (coach, etc).
  • Club Rivals & Derby Games: Create some ‘in-game’ rivalry that has actually knock-on effects.
  • Club Shares: The ability to buy and sell shares in clubs.
  • Betting: The ability to place a bet on the outcome of matches.
  • Best Club & Manager Voting: This will feed into International Matches.
  • International Matches: These lucky managers will be given the honor to take their national side into battle!
  • Substitution Tactics: To give you control over your subs.
  • Zonal Tactics: Implement a few ‘missing’ ones and to give all of them a subtle adjustment where needed.
  • Replacement for a sent-off Goalkeeper: Currently the replacement is not always optimal.

L1 | S4 | W8: Plymouth storm the summit as West Ham send Walsall tumbling

The Division 1 table has a new leader for the first time since Week 5. Plymouth Argyle’s 1-0 win at Carrow Road – one of the four televised games this week – combined with Walsall’s shock home defeat to West Ham to hand Carl’s side the summit on 15 points. David Griffiths’ side, who had looked like the most settled club in the division just seven days ago, are now fourth. The League Cup Last 16 also delivered: Arsenal knocked out of the cup by Stevenage, Chelsea needing extra time to survive Wimbledon, and a Quarter-Final draw that sets up some tasty ties for Week 21.

L1 | S4 | W9: Wilshere treble fires Leicester’s six-goal demolition as Division 3’s three-way tie holds

Week 9 and the Division 1 title race continues to refuse to separate itself, with six clubs still covered by just three points at the summit. Plymouth Argyle hold top spot after a comfortable 2-0 win over Port Vale, but nothing is settled, nothing is safe, and the pressure is distributed across the table in a way that makes every single result feel consequential. Elsewhere, Division 3 produced the result of the week – and arguably the result of the season so far – as Leicester City dismantled Crystal Palace 6-0 to send shockwaves through the division. Division 4 meanwhile has its own quiet crisis developing at the wrong end, while Division 2’s top two continue to put clear water between themselves and the rest.

June 2026 – Newsletter

June in Cape Town means proper winter – grey skies, cold mornings, and the kind of weather that keeps you at the keyboard. Which is exactly where I’ve been. May was a quieter month on the surface, but a lot was happening under the bonnet, and most of it is about to become visible.

L1 | S4 | W2: Rangers and West Ham share top spot as Forest Green Rovers announce themselves in Division 3

Across the four divisions there were already some eyebrow-raising results – a Rangers side thumping their way to six points, a brave Sutton United seeing off Liverpool in the cup, a Colchester United shipped three at home without reply, and a Forest Green Rovers with a rating of 671 somehow sitting quietly in Division 3. It’s early days, but the shape of things to come is starting to emerge.
